|Mason County, Michigan - cougar sighting.
Reported Thu, Mar 3, 2011 at 1:51 PM to www.savethecougar.org
Date of Observation: August 2004
Time: 5:30 pm
Location Description: My husband and I were driving southbound on Angling Road heading towards Ludington from Manistee. We both saw a large animal leap across the road moving West.
It moved like a cat, not a dog, it was the height of a labrador but at least a third longer in body length. It had a very long tail, with thick but short fur. It's fur was almost chestnut in color having quite a bit of red in it. It was not a deer its legs were too thick and stocky. It's tail was far longer than that of any bobcat or lynx and it did not have tufted or tipped ears. It looked like nothing else exce pt a cougar of some sort. We could see no collar on it. I got across the road in maybe three jumps.
