SaveTheCougar.org got the following report via email on 9/10/2009

"Dear Sir,

I just wanted to share that last evening, September 9, 2009, I was traveling west on US 41 from Marquette to L’Anse. On the east side of Ishpeming (Marquette County), just west of Teal Lake, within the Ishpeming city limits, a large adult cougar crossed 4 lanes of heavy traffic on US 41 right in front of my vehicle. In fact, I had to slam on my brakes to avoid hitting it.

In 37 years I have never seen a mountain lion. I am still in shock, and awe.
