|Newago County, Michigan - cougar sighting.
Reported Sat, Jul 17, 2010 at 5:26 PM to www.savethecougar.org
Date of Observation: 7/13/2010
Time: 5 PM
Location Description: I was trveling south on 196th turned east on 7 mile, cat was crossing north across the road.
This was the first Cougar I"d seen in the wild. I only had 4 to 5 seconds to observe. At first I thought Bobcat but it had a long tail, and was solid gold in color. After the cat dissapeared into a cornfield on the northside of road,I thought how big? I came up with 60 to 70 lbs. In hindsight, the cat was taller than my labrador, witch weighs in at 105. I'm 69 years old and a sceptic. If you had told me the same story I would say no way. Now I'm a believer. By the way I was on a motorcycle, so I was up close and personal. No distortion. Interestion to note, there was a wild turkey just to east of the cornfied looking back at the cornfield, turkey had the cats number.
