|Mecosta County, Michigan - cougar sighting.
Reported Sat, Oct 8, 2011 at 6:26 PM to www.savethecougar.org
Date of Observation: 0ct 8 2011
Time: 10:00 am
Location Description: Sitting in my treestand while trying to hunt deer!
I had several deer in the field coming down the hill when the suddenly stopped....at first I thought they caught sight of me or even winded me but either way they turned and ran where they came from. I then saw an object come across the corner of the field and follow the deers path. I did notice its cat like figure but thought nothing of it since we've been regularly seeing a bobcat in the area. Aprox. 30 minutes later I then saw the cat at 60yds tops up the hill from me and then noticed the long thick tail and tanish color fur.....it was then th at I new it was no bobcat! He wander the area for some time so I had plenty of time to determine that it was for sure a cougar. If I were to have brought a camera in the woods with me I could have easily photographed the cat for proof which I will be doing from now on. As I said he was rather close when he came through the woods and into our swamp so a photo would have been very clearly describalble.
