|Ottawa County, Michigan - cougar sighting.
Reported Wed, Sep 7, 2011 at 1:08 PM to www.savethecougar.org
Date of Observation: 9/7/11
Time: 9:30 a.m.
Location Description: In the area of Butternut Dr. and New Holland st. in Park Township north of Holland.
I was traveling northwest on Butternut Dr. nearing the intersection of Butternut Dr. and New Holland St. On the west side of Butternut Dr. I noticed a Cougar cross a short section of bike path that runs along Butternut Dr. It was traveling north. I watched it cross a driveway and then the front yard of house towards the wooded side/backyard. I new instantly this was a BIG cat. It was the color of a deer, it had a very thick and long tail, and moved very fast! I was still traveling on Butternut Dr., I stopped just north of where I saw the cougar to warn a jogger that was heading in that direction. I turned around and heading back south to see if I could spot the cougar again. I had my camera ready this time, but was not able to find it.
