|Ogemaw County, Michigan - cougar sighting.
Reported Thu, Jul 28, 2011 at 7:07 PM to www.savethecougar.org
Date of Observation: Winter 2011
Time: Mid Day
Location Description: The location was just a mile or so north of M55 on Sage Lake Rd. near Hale. My Step mother had an up close encounter with a huge cat. She said she went out to feed her geese and other animals that were in the coop and saw a huge cat acting like it was trying to sneak in the coop. Once the cat saw her, it just looked at her unafraid. After a few seconds of trying to shoo it away, the cat calmly turned around and walked into the woods. It scared her pretty bad and she said the cat was a brown color with a bid thick tail and probably weighed close to 100lbs. Later my father looked up photos of cats to include regular household cats and she pointe d out a picture of a cougar and said she was 100% that was the right one. She claimed to only be 20-30ft away from the animal.
