|Genessee County, Michigan - cougar sighting.
Reported Mon, May 2, 2011 at 10:00 PM to www.savethecougar.org
Date of Observation: 05/02/2011
Time: 5:30-6:00 PM
Location Description: crossing a 10 acre field behind our home
I walked into my home and was talking on my cell phone. I walked toward my door wall in the kitchen and immediately noticed a large black figure crossing the field (there is a 10 acre field behind my home). I told my friend "I think I see a black cougar in the field". I got my camera and got one picture before it disappeared behind a old hay bail at the edge of a field. The picture does not do it justice. Just before the shot, the cat's tail was extended out and it was long and thick. As I snapped the shot, the cat seemed to crouch d own and it's tail went into the grass. I watched the area for a couple of hours, but did not see it again. Plan on investigating the site tomorrow to see if I can find any tracks.
